Parenting Musically

Partnering with parents on the adventure of early childhood

Parenting Musically with mom and baby

Parenting Musically

Come sing, move and make music together WITH your little one and learn how music combined with parenting creates a dynamic and robust parenting tool.  Classes are filled with active music making with instruments, movement and songs aimed at enhancing important skills such as communication, social interaction, and self-organization. In the midst of all the fun and music making, parents will be given tips on how music can be used at home to enhance their child’s development and support you as a parent.

The best way to LEARN is to DO. These classes are about having fun, engaging with your child, strengthening your bond, all while singing, moving and making music TOGETHER.

Parenting Musically program can be offered as a workshop or in-service to early childhood educators (day care, pre-school, early intervention, Head Start, etc.) to provide a solid basis and understanding on the importance of music for the developing brain. Workshops cover areas such as

  • Music and the brain, The importance of neuroplasticity and music
  • The importance of and how to provide live music-making experiences
  • How to create a playlist for classroom management
  • I only sing in the shower – learning to get comfortable with your voice and singing with the children
  • Getting comfortable making your own music

Workshops can be customized for a facility’s specific need. All programs seek to support those amazing individuals that are devoted to working in early childhood education.

The Parenting Musically program utilizes the Sprouting Melodies® framework, an award winning early childhood music and movement program, created and offered ONLY by board-certified music therapists holding the credential MT-BC.
